Curriculum

The Professional Master’s in Occupational Safety and Health (Online) program is designed to help safety and health professionals develop their skills and knowledge to successfully define and manage complex safety and health programs while working full-time.

The two-year program consists of 10 courses on fundamentals and standards of occupational safety and health, technologies, communication skills, and business aspects. The curriculum is taught in a hybrid format that blends face-to-face instruction and 24/7 online learning. As an online student, you can expect:

  • Online lessons delivered asynchronously to accommodate your schedule.
  • Live office hours with your instructors to ask questions.
  • Three in-person three-day visits to Georgia Tech's Atlanta campus spread over the two-year curriculum. Specific dates, as well as extensive visitor guidance and support from program staff, are provided before starting the program.
  • Two seven-week courses each Fall and Spring are taken consecutively.
  • One seven-week course in your first Summer semester and one twelve-week capstone course in your second summer semester.

The program culminates with a twelve-week team-based capstone project that requires you to work within a team and use your new skills and knowledge to address a real-world need.

The Professional Master’s in Occupational Safety and Health (Online) program is a Graduate Safety Practitioner (GSP) Qualified Academic Program (QAP) designation from the Board of Certified Safety Professionals.
