We have a long history of supplying programs that meet market needs and are designed to directly address industry skill and knowledge gaps, while providing working professionals with practical, readily applicable solutions.
In addition to offering a variety of professional education programs, we provide ongoing and customized training, which helps to attract and retain top talent as well as keep employees' skills current and relevant in quickly changing markets.
Online Program Growth
In January 2019, we welcomed the first Online Master of Science in Cybersecurity cohort, Georgia Tech's third degree-at-scale. Enrollments have reached 557 and all three curriculum tracks have launched. Additional program highlights include:
- 40% increase in enrollments across all online degrees.
- 52% increase in enrollments for the Summer Online Undergraduate Program (SOUP).
- 10% increase in MOOC registrations.
Graduates Celebrate Successes
The first cohort of the Professional Master's in Occupational Safety and Health (PMOSH) graduated in August alongside the Applied Systems Engineering and Manufacturing Leadership programs. In total, 64 adult learners earned their advanced degrees, the largest graduation to date. This year also saw the largest graduation for the Online Master of Science in Analytics, with 29 graduates, one of whom traveled from Taiwan for commencement on-campus.
Industry Strategic Partnerships
The Industry Strategic Partnership Team works to connect companies with GTPE in order to provide ongoing and customized training that meets their talent needs in a quickly changing market. Throughout 2019, this team added or renewed training commitments with several key companies, while also working to establish new leads by promoting GTPE programs at 10 industry-specific or talent development events across the country.
In January, we welcomed the first cohorts of the cybersecurity and user design boot camps. In FY19, 695 adult learners graduated from our boot camp programs, with an additional 484 in active cohorts. Offered nights and weekends in Atlanta, Savannah, and Peachtree Corners, boot camps provide working professionals hands-on training to master specialized skills needed transition into a tech career.
English for Business
The Georgia Tech Language Institute surpassed 500,000 enrollments in its five MOOCs this summer. The courses, which are available on the Coursera platform, focus on an area of English communication specifically for successful business interactions. In addition to offering the highly popular online courses, the Language Institute also continues to offer an array of traditional programs to meet the Institute's international student and scholar needs and to support its role as a global campus.
First Cohort of Excel Program
Seven students graduated in May as part of the first cohort of Excel, a postsecondary education program for students with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Offered by the Scheller College of Business and administered by GTPE, the program exposes students to traditional subjects such as math and science as well as life skills such as interpersonal communication. The GLC Sales Team also employed a student intern from the program as part of extended learning outside of the classroom.
New Certificate in Savannah
The Procurement and Supply Management Leadership Certificate was offered at Georgia Tech-Savannah for the first time this March and included learners from the U.S., Germany, and Honduras. Designed to help procurement and business professionals in the global sourcing environment, participants develop critical skills in negotiation philosophies and executive communication. It is the only certificate program to be held in both Atlanta and Savannah.
